Constituency Session and Related Meetings
2/11/2015

The Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Constituency Session will be held at the Keene Adventist Church on April 26, 2015. Delegates from across the Conference will gather to elect officers and directors, to consider changes in the constitution and to transact such business as may properly come before the Conference. The constitution states that each church is entitled to two delegates for the church organization and one additional delegate for each 60 members recorded in the conference clerk’s records. Each delegate must be a member of the congregation that accredits them. These delegates attend the Constituency Session, vote and represent their local churches.
The constitution also provides that the Organizing Committee be formed by each church choosing one member plus an additional member for each 500 members or a major fraction thereof. It is necessary to select those members from the church’s delegate list, including delegates-at-large, to serve on the Organizing Committee. The Organizing Committee will then meet by area on March 8 at 10 am to elect the Nominating Committee, which in turn will represent the conference membership by area in electing officers and department directors. Dates and info available at TexasAdventist.org/constituency.

2015 Bible Adventure
2/2/2015

On January 17th, 2015 in San Antonio the Texas Conference Youth Department held its first ever Conference level Bible Adventure. Families from all round Texas came together bringing their Adventurers for the Bible knowledge event which tested the Adventurers in their knowledge of chapters 1-15 from the book of Matthew. Previously, some local areas had tested Adventurers in Bible knowledge, but this year marked the official launch of this event as a Conference sponsored event.
Thirty three teams participated, with teams consisting of a group of 4-6 Adventurers per team. The testing had a total of 50 questions divided in 2segments of 25. Questions were multiply choice or true/false.
A mother from the Dallas area that had come as a visitor and is not a member of the church mentioned ""I want my daughter in this program. It is the first time I see a children' club learning from the Bible."
Area coordinators, Conference leaders were all excited at the fact that the Adventurers knew bigger portions of Scripture by memory. The participants also showed great attitudes and eagerness as they remained focused during the event time.
Another parent from the Houston area commented about her son's experience and said, "This is the third time my son participated in a bible competition. I am very grateful because my son knows more about Jesus."
During the waiting time while the scores were being tabulated, the Adventurers and their families had a chance to sing songs and worship together. As they sang with the great energy that only Adventurers have, we were reminded of the reason and purpose of this Bible Adventure event: To see children fall in love with Jesus and to see families united in the study of Scriptures.
